Using navcoder with e39 plus#
I got a quote from the dealer who claimed that to retrofit VR required a part (SES Module, which is clearly wrong as there isn't the connector for it), and they wanted £595 + VAT PLUS the fitting and coding cost When I pointed out that there was no facility to fit a seperate SES module and all that was needed was coding, they just weren't interested in progressing it further. When I queried on my E46 about upgrading my BT ULF, I was quoted over £400 + VAT luckily it failed under warranty and I got a newer gen one.Īs for VR, when I bought the E83, I was dismayed to find no VR even though it had BT. Prices seem a bit cheap from a stealer to be honest. Should I add VR to the TCU I've got or replace it with a ULF? (and in each case, would the process be straight forward and "plug and play")? My gut feeling is to go for the ULF as it'll be the latest version and so offer best performance and be more likely to upload by iPhone 3G's phone book etc - but equally I fancy achieving what I want and saving £100+! Having just missed out on a 12th generation ULF on eBay this week which went for £205, a new one looks good value. I was also told that a 84.10.9.154.358 latest generation ULF would be £268.21 inc VAT. This would be a special order from Germany ~1 week - 10 days leadtime. Having spoken to my friendly BMW garage I am told I can get the necessary bits to add VR to my set-up for £146.46 inc VAT (can't/won't give me part numbers and/or advice re fitting times and whether any coding is necessary).
Using navcoder with e39 Bluetooth#
I already have Bluetooth functionality but I want voice recognition too! I am using Navcoder version 2.5.20 which I believe is the latest.Īs suspected (and confirmed here) I have a 633 Telematics Control Unit (TCU) rather than a 644 ULF (as an aside, what does ULF stand for?) According to Navcoder, my phone module is part number 6 963 758 hw 50 sw 28 made in May 05 (which elsewhere I read is an option 633 bluetooth with telematics unit) but I would expect to have a 6th generation unit (part number 84 21 6 955 522) - or am I misunderstanding things? Separately (or is it?) when I read the BT module, I get: "Error when reading Bluetooth data: No response from device (time out) Check i-Bus connections and check that the device is switched on."Īlso, I also am unable to save scan results and get "run-time error '52' - bad file name or number" when I try to - is this related to my other issues - is Navcoder not running correctly? I expect a beep so I can give the car an instruction. I then switched everything off and back on so the new settings could take effect and when I press the man speaking button the steering wheel for a few seconds, I get nothing.
Using navcoder with e39 code#
When I put a tick in the VR enabled box on the code telephone screen and pick the code SES button, all seems correct with me getting a message saying it has been recoded, verified etc.
so I bought Navcoder, a Resler interface and some BMW parts so I could hook up neatly to the CD autochanger connector and do so.Ĭonnection is fine, and Navcoder seems to run as it should and I get lots of messages on the laptop's screen and can scan my modules etc.
I understand from reading various threads here that VR can be activated using Navcoder.
